Chapter Leadership
-
What's the difference between chapter leadership & regular G7 membership?
While a healthy chapter begins with the contributions of every member, chapter leaders (a.k.a. chapter board of directors) have a unique role. Chapter leaders are responsible for:
-
Spiritual vision: shepherding the faith & growth of all members
-
Driving referrals: modelling & leading others in mature networking habits
-
Governance decisions: voting on new member applications & leadership appointments
-
Monthly events: running tight chapter meetings with edifying content
-
-
What are the different roles of chapter leadership?
While each G7 chapter has its own way of doing things, leaders generally operate within the following roles:
-
President: drives recruitment & lead-sharing
-
Vice-President: general extension of President
-
Membership Director: manages membership flow & onboarding
-
Event Director: organizes all facets of the chapter's monthly and special events
-
Prayer Director: encourages prayer in & out of meetings
See member resources for full details.
-
-
What kind of training do leaders receive?
All Chapter Leaders participate in a comprehensive training program, including:
- live member onboarding training in the basics of G7 & chapter leadership
- access to our library of leadership resources
- support from G7 staff
Given their crucial role in driving chapter culture, Presidents & Vice Presidents also receive:
- 1-on-1 coaching from our team of experienced networkers
- weekly Presidents Cohorts for equipping in essential G7 processes & encouraging one another
-
How long is the term of board leadership?
Best practice, though not strictly enforced, is that leadership appointment last for one year with a maximum of two consecutive years in the same position. Further, each position may go up for re-election after one year, and leaders may elect to move into another position, subject to majority-vote by the chapter board.
-
How can I become a chapter leader?
-
Interested members: Indicate your interest in a leadership role in your membership application during sign-up.
-
Active & pending members: Contact your chapter President or Vice President to express your interest in a leadership role.
Chapter leaders then consider & vote on leadership appointments (see below).
-
-
How are leadership appointments & membership applications decided?
Matters of chapter governances generally include: approval/denial of new membership applications, leadership role appointments, and other decisions that impact the chapter as a whole.
Who make these decisions is subject to the chapter's growth stage:
-
During a chapter's early formation (i.e. 3 board members or less), chapters need to be agile. So, the chapter President has sole power to decide on governance matters and shall seek alignment with the rest of the chapter's members where possible.
-
Once the board is established (4 of the 5 positions are filled), the chapter board takes over & decides all positions by majority vote. (President carries out the Board's decisions in the G7 App for membership applications & leadership appointments.) On a split, the President decides.
